Santiago Atitlan, one of the poorest indigenous villages in Central America is leading the way in providing free communal Internet access to its people. Common spaces, open doors, and sharing are deeply entrenched in the daily lives of the indigenous people in Guatemala. The move to declare ‘Internet access a human right’ is just one way they are embracing and adapting new technologies to their age-old traditions.
