Jimmy & Pier (September In The Rain)

Another Valentine's Day montage, this time paying tribute to the star-crossed love story of James Dean and Pier Angeli. They met while Dean was filming "East Of Eden" at Warner Brothers and Pier was shooting "The Silver Chalice" at MGM in 1954. They fell in love but Pier's controlling mother opposed the romance and pressured her daughter to break it off with Jimmy and marry singer/actor Vic Damone (Dean parked his motorcycle across the street from the church the day of the wedding, and sped off as the newlyweds posed for pictures), a union which would end in divorce a few years later. Pier later spoke of Jimmy as her one true love, and, like him, she died in the month of September, almost exactly sixteen years after Jimmy. I hope they are reunited in heaven. Music by Peggy Lee.
