Patti Blagojevich, wife of former Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich, says the visiting room where she meets her imprisoned husband is “one of the saddest places on earth.”
“We spent the weekend in Denver visiting Rod,” Patti Blagojevich wrote in a Facebook post Monday afternoon, without clarifying who joined her (presumably her two daughters). “He was so happy to see the us [sic] and we were so happy to see him.”

After Patti Blagojevich and their daughters visited in April, Blagojevich’s attorneys told a Chicago TV station that their client wasn’t happy about prison rules that only permitted his younger daughter to sit on his lap, while his older daughter was only allowed one hug.
Patti has close to 3,000 friends on Facebook. Her wall is filled with posts from seemingly sympathetic Facebook users who post encouraging messages to her, and she occasionally writes about the ordeal of having a husband in prison.
“I have suspected this for a long time, but now that I’m a single mom I realize it is 100 % true. When you have children, you completely abdicate your life for theirs,” Patti wrote on April 28.

Rod Blagojevich was handed a 14-year sentence last summer for multiple corruption-related charges, including an attempt to sell President Barack Obama’s old Senate seat.
