Women and girls who work on farms in the United States face serious risk
of sexual abuse and harassment. Many are unauthorized immigrants and
fear of deportation keeps them from reporting abuses. In the current
debate over the Violence Against Women Act, the US Congress is
considering making it even harder for immigrant women to seek protection
from violence and abuse. Human Rights Watch urges Congress to ensure
that all victims of gender-based violence in the United States,
including immigrant farmworkers, can seek justice.
No matter your immigration status, if you are a victim of a crime, you deserve protection.
