Here is the segment on the April 29th AFDI/SIOA Jessica Mokdad Human Rights Conference that was supposed to air on FOX news (Detroit) last Sunday when the multiple first degree murder verdict came down in the Shafia mass honor killing -- not because of the Shafia honor killing verdict, but because family Mokdad members, one in particular, were livid that we were using Jessica's name in connection with "honor killing." Various female Mokdad family members, including Cassandra Mokdad, alleged that Jessica's murder was not an honor killing, despite the overwhelming evidence that it was. We filmed last week.
Family members have been apoplectic about the conference, more concerned with offending Islam than with the honor murder of Jessica Mokdad. Jessica's "stepmother" Cassandra, though just a few years older than Jessica, has been particularly vocal and vicious. Nasty facebook comments, denials and cover for the honor killer, first claiming that Saddam Hussein was responsible, then that the murder was an act of passion -- all this is part of the reason we are holding this conference: the cover-up of honor killings, despite their rise, in the West. The family of Jessica should be joining forces with me, like Amina and Sarah Said's family (on her mother's non-Muslim side), to educate the public on this horrible Islamic practice.
Although it is usually the father and/or brother commits the honor killing (although Tooba Shafia was a willing killer to her daughters), the mother almost always has a role. It was Patricia Said who lured her daughters home after Amina and Sarah ran away. They were honor murdered by their father Yaser Said upon their return home. Who lured Jessica Mokdad home?
The last recorded dispute between Jessica Mokdad and her stepfather was over the wearing of the hijab (head scarf), (http://www.arabamericannews.com/news/index.php?mod=article&cat=Community&article=4322), which he originally forced her to wear (just as in Aqsa Parvez's honor killing). She didn't want to wear it, thereby bringing shame on him and the family. This report is typical for the mainstream media and unworthy of FOX, which, while not perfect, is generally much better than its competitors: Alexis Wiley doesn't bother to give even a shred of the evidence that it was an honor killing, and instead gives the impression that it is something I am making up. She doesn't mention that initial reports were quite clear -- a shocking thing for the mainstream media -- that her stepfather killed Jessica because she "wasn't following Islam" (report from TwinCities.com) and was "not adhering to Muslim customs" (Star Tribune).
The Daily Mail reported here: "Devout Muslim stalks his step-daughter over four states 'before killing her for being too Western."
The Daily Tribune Reported: Stepfather charged with murder in Warren, upset victim didn't adhere to Muslim customs.
And Alexis Wiley's own report for FOX Detroit reported it as an honor killing as well: Wiley reported, "He forced her to wear a traditional head scarf instead of allowing her to make that decision on her own, and when she stopped wearing a scarf, friends say he became furious."
But Wiley gives no hint of the existence of these reports or her own. Why? Who is paying off Alexis Wiley? Or is it that she is scared, intimidated, afraid to "offend Islam"? Or is it that her political correctness makes it impossible to think of Muslims as anything but victims?
But in that case, why doesn't Jessica Mokdad matter? Here's the accompanying news article (and do check out the comments):The Daily Tribune Reported: Stepfather charged with murder in Warren, upset victim didn't adhere to Muslim customs.

Loved Ones Dispute Her Murder Was an Honor Killing
SOUTHFIELD, Mich. (WJBK) -- It's been almost ten months since Jessica Mokdad's murder. She was just 20 years old.
"It's like still in disbelief," said Mohammed Mokdad, her father.
Jessica's murder made international headlines. She left Minnesota to escape an allegedly physically and mentally abusive stepfather, but in April of 2011, her stepfather, Rahim Alfatlawi, drove from Minnesota to her grandmother's Warren home and shot her in the head.
Her family calls it an awful tragedy, but others are calling it an honor killing.
"We know that this is a practice under Islamic law. The honor killing is the final act. People know very little of the terror ... that these girls live under," said Pamela Geller.
She is the head of Stop the Islamization of America. Geller is hosting a conference on the anniversary of Jessica's death in Dearborn. It's called the Jessica Mokdad Human Rights Conference.
"We cannot sanction this gendercide. We cannot sanction the diminishment and dehumanization of women. We must speak up," Geller said.
We asked Jessica's stepmother, Cassandra Mokdad, whether her murder was an honor killing.
"Absolutely it was not," she said.
She told us this disgusting act had nothing to do with Islam, a religion she said Jessica practiced proudly.
"It was nothing about religion or anything. It was just about a sick human being," Mohammed Mokdad said.
"He wanted to have a relationship with Jessica as more than her stepfather. He wanted to have a more romantic relationship with her," Cassandra Mokdad explained.
Even the Macomb County Prosecutor on the case said Alfatlawi murdered Jessica because he was obsessed with her, not the religion, and Jessica's family wants her name taken off the conference.
"She's using Jessica as her poster child for anti-Islam," said Cassandra Mokdad. The honor killing was widely reported:
"What gulls me is that there is this prohibition on discussing it and the ideology that inspires honor killings," Geller explained.
She said this conference will happen and the name won't be changed.
"We're definitely going to have this conference and it will not be stopped. Their directing their barbs at me. I didn't kill Jessica. I'm trying to save the next girl. They should be helping me save the next girl," said Geller.
"Absolutely I'll go. I won't let her sit there and misuse Jessica's name, and I will let her know exactly how I feel," Cassandra Mokdad told us.
The conference will be held at the Hyatt in Dearborn at the end of April.
Look at the vile Jew-hatred and racism posted by Cassandra Mokdad, Jessica's "stepmother" (below, screenshots of her Facebook page). Shouldn't her anger be directed at the honor murderer? But this is typical. The father, brother or any male relative actually do the killing, but it is the female members of the family who aid, abet, excuse or otherwise sanction the honor murder. The mother played an active role in the mass honor killing of three Shafia girls and another female, and was just convicted in Canada. So Cassandra's strange and vicious behavior is hardly surprising. What is surprising is that Cassandra is not much older than Jessica -- this is the mindset of a young Muslim woman in America.
Here are some screenshots of Cassandra Mokdad's (Jessica's "stepmother" though very close in age) -- she has since gone dark on FB.

"There is broad support and acceptance of this idea in Islam, and we're going to see it more and more in the United States," says Robert Spencer, leading scholar on jihad and Islam, NY Times bestselling author of ten books on Islam and jihad.
Twenty-year-old Jessica Mokdad just wanted to live a normal American life.
But her stepfather, Rahim Alfetlawi, wanted to control her every move in an effort to force her to live his idea of a very conservative Muslim lifestyle, her family and police said.
Now Alfetlawi is in jail, awaiting trial on charges that he killed his stepdaughter. With his hands and feet in shackles, the Iraqi refuge who said he was a victim of Saddam Hussein's regime listened in court May 12 as his attorney, Richard Glanda, asked to have him examined to see whether he's mentally competent to stand trial.
The proceedings were translated into Arabic.
"He thought she was becoming too Westernized," said Macomb County Assistant Prosecutor Bill Contaldo. "I think this was a very nice young lady wanting to experiment with Western culture without control and without abuse."
[...]
Jessica Mokdad's parents were divorced; Alfetlawi became her stepfather shortly before her ninth birthday. The family moved to Minnesota, where Alfetlawi forced his stepdaughter to wear a hijab and made her almost a prisoner in their home, said her father, Mohamad Mokdad.
Her mother told police Alfetlawi felt shamed by his stepdaughter's Western ways: She wore shorts and sleeveless tops. She didn't want to wear the hijab.
Jessica Mokdad also had a boyfriend. When Alfetlawi found out the relationship had been physical, he forced them to marry in 2009 in a religious -- but not legally binding -- ceremony in a mosque, Mohamad Mokdad said.
The couple lived in the Alfetlawi house, but Alfetlawi wouldn't allow them to sit next to each other on the couch, Mokdad said.
"The poor kid. I don't know how she just didn't go insane," he said.
She tried to escape Alfetlawi as soon as she turned 18.
The police and Macomb County prosecutors say Alfetlawi shot her execution-style.
Mokdad's mother told police that Alfetlawi felt so shamed by her daughter's Western ways, he killed her in an honor killing, Warren Police Sgt. Stephen Mills said.
"I thought it was a sick joke," her father said when he heard of her death. "Then I found out it was for real."

AFDI/SIOA, VAST to Host Jessica Mokdad Human Rights Conference in Dearborn, Michigan at Hyatt Regency Yahoo News

Using Adobe's snapshot function you can create images of every section of the book.NEW YORK, PR Newswire: The prominent human rights organization American Freedom Defense Initiative (AFDI), its Stop Islamization of America (SIOA) program and the Virginia Anti-Shariah Task Force (VAST) will be hosting the first-ever human rights conference dedicated to exposing the plight of women under Islamic law in Dearborn, Michigan on the anniversary of the honor murder of Jessica Mokdad: the Jessica Mokdad Human Rights Conference.
The Jessica Mokdad Human Rights Conference will be held at the Hyatt Hotel in Dearborn. After bowing to Islamic supremacist pressure and canceling a speech by Pamela Geller that had been scheduled for a Hyatt in Nashville, Tennessee, the Hyatt reversed its stance, recovered its understanding of the American principle of free speech, apologized and offered AFDI space in a Hyatt for a future Conference to make it up the human rights organization. Geller chose the Hyatt in Dearborn to stand in solidarity there with girls who are in danger of being victimized like Jessica Mokdad.
Jessica Mokdad was a 20-year-old Muslim woman in Warren, Michigan, who was brutally murdered in May 2011. Fox News Detroit reported: “Authorities say a Minnesota man killed his 20-year-old stepdaughter in Michigan because she left home and wasn't following Islam.” Jessica’s stepfather, a devout Muslim, tracked his stepdaughter over four states to murder her for bringing dishonor on her family.
AFDI Executive Director Pamela Geller said in a statement: “We’ve named the Conference after her as part of our ongoing campaign to raise awareness and bring a stop to the phenomenon of Islamic honor killing. These girls have rights, too, they’re human beings, and yet they’re completely forgotten in our politically correct culture, in which speech that is offensive to Islam is increasingly forbidden. We’re standing for the human rights of girls like Jessica Mokdad.”
Geller added: “AFDI tried to place ads on Detroit-area buses offering help to people wishing to leave Islam and threatened by their families. Detroit SMART Transit refused the ads, and we sued on free speech grounds. We won, and the ads were scheduled to run, but Detroit SMART still refused to run them – and the same week they were supposed to run, Jessica Mokdad was murdered. Perhaps if she had seen one of our ads, she would be alive today. This underscores the cowardice of Detroit-area officials and the need for this Conference in Dearborn. We welcome women seeking help and resources to escape dangerous and misogynist households.”

In Book O, titled "Justice," in section 1, "Who is Subject to Retaliation for Injurious Crimes," section o1.1 reads, "Retaliation is obligatory ... against anyone who kills a human being purely intentionally and without right..."
However, o1.2 clarifies (above) that "The following are not subject to retaliation" and then lists — after the lovely, egalitarian "Muslim for killing a non-Muslim" and "Jewish or Christian subject ... for killing an apostate" — "(4) a father or mother (or their fathers or mothers) for killing their offspring, or offspring's offspring."

Two Islamic texts stressing the immunity for honour killings: An answer to Ziad Hashmi’s National Post challenge
Écrit par Point de Bascule on 09 Décembre 2011. Posted in Articles par Point de Bascule
Version française ICI
While the Shafia trial is on in Kingston, Sikander Ziad Hashmi, Imam at the Islamic Society of Kingston, has challenged the National Post’s readers on December 6, 2011 to find one Islamic text that sanctions the murder of a family member to preserve honour. Here is his exact request:
"I ask you to find me one classical Islamic religious text that sanctions the murder of a family member to preserve honour. It just doesn’t exist."Point de Bascule answers the Imam’s request by producing not one but two Islamic texts stating that a father who kills his child must not be subject to retaliation. Both texts do not specify any particular motive for granting immunity to the father. Therefore, honour killings are covered by the exemption. Both texts were presented by Point de Bascule in an article published when the Shafia trial began.
A Sunni text endorsing the immunity of a father who kills his child
The first text comes from the Sharia manual Umdat al-Salik (Sunni). Section o1.2 lists many cases of murder for which the murderer is granted immunity. Case #4 refers specifically to that of a parent who kills his/her child:
"o1.2 The following are not subject to retaliation:
- A child or insane person, under any circumstances ... ;
- A Muslim for killing a non-Muslim ;
- A Jewish or Christian subject of the Islamic state for killing an apostate from Islam ... ;
- A father or mother (or their fathers or mothers) for killing their offspring, or offspring's offspring ;
- ..."
Ahmad ibn Naqid al-Misri (1302 - 1367), Umdat al-Salik (Reliance of the Traveller), Beltsville (Maryland), Amana Publications, 1994, pp. 583-584A reproduction of the book is available HERE.
The Umdat al-Salik is available on the University of Waterloo’s website.
The English translation of the Umdat al-Salik is endorsed by al-Azhar University in Egypt, a leading institution for the study of Islam in the Sunni world and by the International Institute of Islamic Thought (IIIT), an organization of scholars based in the United States and affiliated with the Muslim Brotherhood.
It is opportune to add that the Islamic Society of Kingston represented by Sikander Ziad Hashmi promotes the IIIT as a reference and an educational Islamic website
This text from the Umdat al-Salik proves that Imam Hashmi was trying to fool the National Post’s readers by distorting a very basic Sharia principle.
A Shiite text endorsing the immunity of a father who kills his child
The second text stresssing the immunity of a father who kills his child comes from Ayatollah Khomeini (1902-1989), an authority of Shia Islam.
In the section 2.3 of Appendix II that he added to his book A Clarification of Questions, Ayatollah Khomeini mentions specifically that, in order to be punished, the murderer must not be the slain’s father:
RETALIATION (GHASAS)
2 – Conditions of retaliation
- Equality in liberty and bondage, and therefore a free will be retaliated vis a vis a free.
- Equality in religion, therefore Moslems will not be retaliated for infidel, unless a Moslem has a habit of killing infidels.
- The slayer is not the father of the slain, nor the parental grandfather (apparently).
- Reason ans wisdom.
- Puberty.
- That he religiously does not deserve to be killed, such as when a person is forced to kill in self-defense.
Ayatollah Khomeini, A Clarification of Questions, Westview Press, Boulder (Colorado), 1984, p. 429A reproduction of the excerpt is available HERE.
Additional information
The issue of Islamic religious texts being settled, here is some additional information demonstrating that Islamists support the immunity for parents who kill their children as well as the concept of honour.
Jordan
In 2009, Queen Rania from Jordan gave her support to women's rights groups that wanted to change laws amounting to legal impunity for men involved in honour killings. Rania denounced the fact that such crimes were on the rise and that murderers were getting away with sentences as little as six months. At the time, the Islamic Action Front, an organization linked to the Muslim Brotherhood, managed to block any changes to the law.
Canada
In 2006, Mahmoud Ayoub, a Muslim expert who is a member of the International Institute of Islamic Thought’s Council of scholars, testified in a Canadian court in favour of a Muslim man who had already been convicted for the murder of his wife. His testimony aimed at reducing the charge from first degree murder to manslaughter. A positive outcome would have reduced the murderer’s sentence.
On this occasion, Ayoub stressed that “the Islamic culture ... place(s) great significance on the concept of family honour.” (R. vs Humaid - section 67)
He also stated that “many Islamic societies permit men to punish wives suspected of adultery and sometimes even kill them” (Canwest / National Post, November 10, 2006 - Top court refuses to hear whether religion can be a murder defence).
Ayoub was then trying nothing less than having Canadian tribunals acknowledging Sharia principles incompatible with the equality of all before the law. The judge rejected his plea.
The case was submitted to the Supreme Court. It refused to hear the case.
Mahmoud Ayoub is the same Muslim expert who testified in favour of an Islamist lobby that sued Maclean’s magazine for having published an article by Mark Steyn who quoted Muslim leaders advocating the conquest of the West by immigration and high birth rates.
