Fact
checkers, unite! The Chrysler CEO on Tuesday pushed back against Mitt
Romney’s ads in Ohio that say the company is considering moving Jeep
production from the state to China. In an email to employees, Chrysler
chief executive Sergio Marchionne insisted the company will not move
existing U.S. production of Jeeps to China, despite the recent public
debate. Although Marchionne does not mention Romney by name, the GOP
candidate has lately been criticized
for ads in Ohio that claim Chrysler is moving Jeep production to China,
despite having received auto bailout funds. The ad misrepresents a Bloomberg
article from last week that says Chrysler will be expanding production
into China but never says anything about shutting down any U.S. plants.
